The mission of ECTPC is to create a cohesive and supportive pathway for aspiring early childhood educators, ensuring they receive comprehensive, high-quality preparation that equips them to meet the diverse needs of young children and their families.

Purpose
The Early Childhood Teacher Preparation Council of Washington State is dedicated to fostering excellence in early childhood education through strategic collaboration and seamless articulation between two-year and four-year higher education institutions.

Establish meaningful, ongoing opportunities for diverse voices to engage in leadership and decision-making processes. Recognize and address implicit biases that limit opportunities for members of marginalized groups.

Encourage the application of current research to enhance the quality of teacher preparation and early childhood programs.

Collaborate with other groups and agencies dedicated to improving the lives of children and families.

Promote credentialing, certification, and the implementation of culturally responsive standards for various levels of early childhood educators.

Work with state ECE Teacher Educators to advocate for equitable pay, supportive work environments, and high-quality programs for young children.

Inform policymakers, influence decisions, and dismantle barriers that affect the preparation of Early Childhood Educators in the State of Washington.

Align with state and national professional organizations, such as but not limited to, the Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF), National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Washington Association for the Education of Young Children (WAEYC), Child Care Aware of Washington (CCA of WA), and Associate Degree Early Childhood Teacher Educators (ACCESS), to provide a broad perspective on early childhood teacher education.
